Hello Bangkok!

We booked our Bangkok trip on a whim and we went there with just a loose itinerary. We wanted to go to Jatujak, see some elephants, go to Siam Paragon and watch a show that only Bangkok is famous for. We played everything by ear so the trip was quite relaxed, we all just went with the flow.

With only 2 hours of sleep, we headed to the airport. Trust Clarice to avoid taking a cab and paying for the midnight charge so she arranged a service for us. I was planning to sleep on the way but how could you when the service comes with a Videoke and a Got 2 Believe DVD to keep us entertained.

We arrived in Bangkok and we were all impressed with their airport. It was huge and looked well maintained.

We took a cab and headed to the hotel, checked in, got ready and headed straight to Siam Paragon to have a late lunch. The food gallery was overwhelming, I was drooling. We finally settled at Asian Kitchen to have a taste of some authentic Thai dishes.

To experience a little but of touristy Thailand, we decided to pay a visit to the reclining Buddha. We hailed a cab and I promptly fell asleep. I didn't notice how far away it was.

The place was huge but we didn't explore anymore. Abby said that it more or less looked the same so we headed out and decided to go to the Grand Palace. While looking for a cab, we were told by the tuktuk drivers that the palace is already closed. They offered a river tour to see the old Bangkok, we agreed after much prodding. They charged us 300 THB (12 SGD) down from 500 THB.

Our verdict: Skip the river tour. It's not worth it. While I liked it because I enjoyed the wind and how relaxed I felt, there was really nothing to see. Picture Malabon and you've already seen what the river tour has to offer.

The river tour was just outside a school and we were just in time because all the street food vendors just finished setting up. We stuffed ourselves and headed back to the hotel. After resting a bit and taking a quick shower, we headed out to Silom for dinner. We were looking for the night market and a quick massage. When we got there, we couldn't find a suitable place to eat so we tried the streets.

We weren't able to find the night market and we weren't able to get a massage but we gamely watched a show at one of the shady side streets there. We went home a bit late but very excited for the next day.
