24 Season 8 Ep 14

With CTU's systems up, thanks to Chloe, they manage to track down the cab that Samir and Tarin took. Dana, however, causes the systems to malfunction for a few seconds allowing the terrorists to blend in to Manhattan's cab traffic and make their escape.

Jack is then called off by President Taylor from the assignment to supervise President Hassan's transfer from the UN to the Maguire Airbase.

Meanwhile, Samir contacts President Taylor and tries to negotiate a deal with her. If she turns over President Hassan to him, he won't set off the nuclear rods. She addresses her staff and is adamant that she won't negotiate with them. (This is a great moment for President Taylor, finally!)

General Brucker has other plans. He talks to Rob Weiss and proposes a covert operation for them to kidnap President Hassan as he is being escorted out. Ethan then walks in on them. As they were discussing, Ethan suffers a heart attack. The general tells Weiss to seek for medical help later as Ethan may jeopardize their plan.

Ethan managed to dial Jack's number. After trying to call him back several time, he gets suspicious and tells the team to head back. The general's men opens fire and this time we see Jack in top form. Jack then manages to get the truth out off one of the men.

Samir, not hearing from President Taylor back, orders Tarin to set off the device.

24 Season 8 Ep 13

Jack and Cole manage to track down the hostiles at a nearby port. (Who says they need CTU?) They engage in a shoot out but Tarin manages to escape. This shoot out goes on until the end of the episode. Really??? Come on, 4 hostiles against Jack should have been no match. Jack keeps shooting and hits no one. 20 minutes into the episode and I was already in a state of disbelief, they had to inject drama where the newbie agent is hit and Jack spends a good ten minutes trying to hold his neck.

Anyway, the saving grace of the episode is Chloe. NSA is contacted to help restore all the technology at CTU but their method would take forever. Chloe has a risky idea but is quickly dismissed. She threatens the NSA prick, does it her way and saves the day.

Meanwhile, Renee is back ine the picture arriving just in time to help Jack and Cole finish off the hostiles. Dana already had it with the Kevin's probation officer and strangles him to death. It is then revealed that she is working with Tarin.

24 Season 8 Ep 12

Tarin is tipped off by Samir that his identity may have been compromised. Looking out the hotel window, he sees the authorities closing in on him so he forces Kayla to come with him and they head out to their headquarters. Samir contacts President Hassan and demands for file 33 in exchange for his daughter. The file in question is later revealed to contain weaknesses in the U.S.defense.

Meanwhile, back at CTU, in the middle of the crisis, Kevin's parole officer shows up and questions Dana. She makes up a lie but he is adamant. He wants to talk to her some more otherwise he would go to Hastings. Dana asks him to stay put. (I have to say that this plot seems to have been way off. It just doesn't gel with the 24 pace.)

Tarin and Kayla escape and he instructs her to contact CTU as they can help her out. He gets shot. Back in CTU, upon reviewing the surveillance footage, they see Tarin very much alive. They put two and two together and realize that there must have been a bomb in Kayla's getaway car but they are already too late. She arrives with only about 17 seconds. The bomb goes off. CTU is destroyed...again.

24 Season 8 Ep 11

Dana and Cole head back to CTU where they are confronted by Hastings. Since they are the best in their respective fields, they are allowed to work back. Dana gets demoted and now has Chloe as her superior. She then gets a call from Kevin's probation officer who insists on meeting up with her at that ungodly hour.

Meanwhile, Marcos manages to arm the bomb again and refuses to listen to Jack until his mother is threatened. He informs Jack that Tarin is involved before exploding into bits.

The episode was really a bit boring until I think the last 2 minutes of the show where Kayla finally answers the call from her mother while Tarin is in the shower. She is informed that she is in danger as Tarin is indeed a traitor. She manages to tell her of her whereabouts only to be informed by Tarin that they are leaving. She manages to keep her calm and locks herself in the bathroom under the pretense of cleaning up.

I am, however, very excited for next week:

24 Season 8 Ep 10

Cole and Dana disposes of Kevin's body in the swamp.

President Taylor talks to Hassan and asks for the roster of covert operatives so Farhad can identify the men behind the impending attack.

En route to the embassy, Tarin escapes. Kayla meets up with him at a hotel where they wait for an American attorney to arrive who will help him out. They then rekindle their passion until the end of the episode.

President Taylor then orders the UN be evacuated as a safety precaution. President Hassan refuses to do so since his daughter is nowhere to be found. He calls his wife who is already about to fly out of the country to try to get in touch with Kayla.

Before getting a chance to save him, Farhad is killed. Jack uses his body as dead bait to lure one of the Kamistan covert operatives to finish him off.  His plan works and they quickly identify Marcos. Chloe is able to disarm the body bomb but before Jack gets a chance to apprehend him, he escapes by jumping out the window. He then quickly traps himself inside what seems to be an oxygen chamber.

Apparently, the Kevin Wade story is not over:

24 Season 8 Ep 9

This episode has got to have the most betrayals ever.

Joseph agrees to hand over the rods to CTU for his immunity but is betrayed by Farhad and killed. Farhad later learns that his friends have a different plan and wants to attack New York. Farhad manages to escape, contacts CTU to tell them of the plan and asks them to help him out.

Meanwhile, Dana follows Kevin and his friend to a forest / swamp. With the help of Arlo, Cole gets there in time before Dana gets the chance to shoot them. She tells him of her past. Cole then confronts the two and tells them to leave Dana alone. Kevin agrees but his friend refuses to do so. He stabs Kevin and goes after Dana and Cole. He gets shot and dies.

Director of CTU, Hastings gets a call from the White House. Somebody needs to take the blame for the failure of the mission. Their obvious choice is Renee. The White House sends somebody from the Justice Department to get a confession from Renee. Jacks learns about this, throws a tantrum and tries to talk to Hastings about his lack of moral character. Hastings doesn't budge.

With Cole nowhere to be found to head the retrieval of Farhad and the rods, Jack offers to help in exchange for Renee's freedom. Hastings agrees on the condition that Jack helps him out till the entire thing is over.

24 Season 8 Ep 7

We finally start to see some action. Most of the characters were pushed to the brink and we see what they are capable of doing.

Dana guides Kevin and his friend to steal money from an NYPD warehouse. The small time crooks get greedy and in spite of the small window given to them to escape, they still find the time to search for a plastic gun to entertain themselves.

President Taylor shares some top secret information to someone from the UN only because she was told that they share a long history of protecting each other (or something to that effect), really a bit ridiculous as you can expect this to bite her in the ass in the coming episodes.

President Hassan gets all the more paranoid and orders to have his aide taken into custody and tortured when the latter advises him to go easy on torturing people.

After coming up with nothing, Renee forces Vladimir to call his contacts again. Vladimir gets irritated and hits her. She finally hits the roof and stabs him to death. She then accidentally stabs Jack as well which as expected doesn't hurt him at all.

Sergei, after being contacted by Vladimir, sends his men to find out how much Vladimir knows about his operation. His men find Vlad dead and takes Jack with them for questioning.

Brian Hastings, the new CTU head, isn't a joy to watch. He's neither here nor there. There seems to be something lacking in the way he delivers.
