Willie in Singapore

Willie was here in Singapore two weeks back for training. We met up with him at his hotel in Clarke Quay. None of us really knew how to get there so we had to jaywalk, cross a high way and skip over some barricades. All for friendship.

He got to the hotel a bit delayed because he had to wait for the hotel shuttle. He wanted some authentic Singaporean food for his first meal so we took him to Jumbo seeing that it's the nearest restaurant there. Also,  since it was already a bit late, no one was in the mood to travel far.

I've been to Jumbo several times and service has gotten poorer. There were not a lot of people when we dined there but our orders took forever. We had to follow up with them several times. Even our bill took about 10 minutes to be processed. Servers were most of the time not paying any attention. Given the price of the food and the bad service, it's just not worth it to go back there.

For his last day here, he wanted to go to the newly opened Marina Sands. Our meeting place was at Raffles Place but Clarice took forever to get there because of work, by the time she met up with us it was already way past dinner time.

We started our trek to the Sands and again, none of us knew how to get there. When we reached Esplanade, we were all very very hungry so we decided to stop and have dinner at Thai Express.

After dinner, the three of us were already too tired to still head to our supposed destination. That is actually how far we got. A picture with the Marina Sands in the background. We'll make it up to Willie when he visits again this July.

Madam

Clarice arrived a couple of weeks ago and quietly left this morning. Despite her early flight, she took the time to prepare breakfast for us. How sweet no?

She brought with her a couple of sweet treats from Manila:

She has been without work for a month now. Our very big team has been reduced to just four members with Clarice to be among the last batch of casualties. It is not so bad since she is soon to enjoy a hefty separation pay. She decided to try her luck here and it seems that the stars are all smiling down on her. Only after a week, she already received an offer. The following day after signing her contract, everything has already been approved giving her ample time to relax and be with her family back home.

On her first weekend, we took her out for lunch at Thai Express.

Em-J and I both chose the seafood kway teow.

Clarice, who was craving for curry, had the chicken curry which turned out to be too spicy for her liking.

We haven't really gone out much since she prefers to stay home and catch up on the latest teleseryes via YouTube but that's okay. We'll have plenty of time to explore when she returns in two weeks.
