Mr. Jones' Orphanage

Mr. Jones' Orphanage is probably Bangkok's most whimsical café‎.  You step into the café‎ and you immediately feel like a child again.  It's a good feeling and just for that, I would have to say that this is my most favorite café‎  in the city.

The interiors leave you feeling warm.

Here's my dining companion for the day.

The best part for me would be their open dessert bar.  Their full dessert menu is available on display, walk over to it and just point at whatever looks the most delicious.

 

I took my sweet time looking at each cake on display before finally settling on the coconut cake.  It was perfect! It wasn't too sweet to make you feel sick after a few bites.

I also ordered a serving of the sweet and sour pancake which I also loved and a serving of iced coffee just because it was extra hot outside.

Their fresh ingredients are also available on display and you'd see the staff walk over to the carousel where they're at.

Your bill comes in this little box that has a little milk chocolate surprise.

Mr. Jones Orphanage is right at the ground level of the very cool Seen Space.

So I have a few photos from my phone that I was supposed to tweet about but never got around to doing so so I thought of just creating one blog entry for them.

The bad: I ordered a piece of turon, minatamis na saging and a small cup of fruit salad for a hefty sum of $6 (Php190) at Kabayan.

The ugly: The minatamis na saging was watered down, the fruit salad, too sweet and the turon, too tough. Never again. 

I wanted to share what Clarice and I had for dinner a few weeks ago. We shared this feast just between us two at Manhattan Fish Market.

I'm loving the new Goldilock's packaging. 

I'm also loving Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. 50% on all cakes after 6PM!

I was craving for Magnum Gold so bad that we had to go all the way to 7-11 more than 2 blocks away at 12midnight.

Morning rush hour, on a very crowded bus, this gentleman felt that his bicho bicho deserved a greatly desired seat better. 

I finally got around to arranging the pasalubong that AI asked me to bring along. 

Coffee Break

A friend sent this advert to us. I won't be able to check if the stores here in the Philippines will be participating in this event because I'll still be in bed. I'm just hoping they do, it's time to give back to the loyal supporters of their expensive coffee. I blame them for becoming the benchmark of coffee shops in terms of pricing. Heck, a drink at Figaro, with their homegrown beans, are priced as much.

*A big Yay!!! to Kopi Roti. At about a price of a coffee cup in Starbucks, you already get your drink and your choice of either a coffee bun or toast plus change.
